Dean K Piper is The Future of Radio by Dr Drew Albright – Beyond Elite Magazine – 25402

Dean K. Piper is a man who combines vision and action, and in the days when everyone is wondering what new technology or service or device will be the next big thing, Piper has long ago placed his bets and is making them come true. What Jobs is to Apple, Piper is to the future of radio.
A successful sales and management business trainer, motivational speaker, author, and master marketer with his 4C Marketing Group, Piper got his start in radio as a interviewed guest appearing on endless radio shows, eventually being approached to host his own show.  The exposure to many forms of the medium resulted in a futuristic brainstorm. Now Dean K. Piper is combining the best of the professionalism and program quality of traditional terrestrial radio with the infinite proliferation opportunities of digital broadcasting for a sure win on the bottom line. His Intertainment Network (that is internet, information, and entertainment, a word he coined) with its W4CY Internet Radio Station is shocking the internet radio Arbitron ratings system with its rapid ascent to the top of the charts.

Key to Piper’s blazing success are the ideas of professionalism, quality, globalism, and improvement of life. He thinks why merely tackle one global problem, when you can tackle them all. He thinks why have only one radio station, when you can have 1,000 the world over. He thinks why only speak to one market, when you can reach everyone. He thinks why only support one type of programming when you can offer choice. In short, Dean K. Piper thinks big, and that is a big reason he has become the leader of digital broadcasting in such a seemingly short period of time.

So what is digital broadcasting anyway? Well, in the broad sense it means communication technologies which carry information as a digital signal rather than the original analog signal. A digital signal is information that has been converted into numbers which can then be read to recreate the original information. As an example in recordings, analog is a cassette tape, digital is a CD. If you watch television in the modern world, regardless of whether the signal is delivered via satellite, cable, telephone line or antennae, you have experienced digital broadcasting as we no longer use analog signals (In the USA, the television networks completely switched from analog to digital signals several years ago).

Digital signals have many benefits in that they do not degrade over time, they can be compressed, and they can be selectively and easily manipulated. Digital is what makes high definition possible. Digital is what makes the choice of so many channels possible. Digital is what makes on-demand programming possible. Digital is the future. And Dean K. Piper knows it.

Now where it can get a bit confusing is that in the broadcast world there is a shorthand whereby digital has an additional definition in that it often refers to digital signals that are broadcast via the Internet. In radio for example, digital broadcasting often refers to internet radio, as distinct from other types of radio to include satellite radio (which also  uses digital signals, just broadcast via satellite), terrestrial (am and fm) radio (which uses analog signals), and to make matters more confusing, HD (high definition) radio, which is a hybrid that broadcasts both digital and analog signals within an analog framework. As for Dean K. Piper, he put his money on internet radio, and today he is very happy.

Dean foresees the end of analog am/fm radio within our lifetime. He says terrestrial radio and HD radio isn’t global enough as it is limited to a certain geographic area, and that the technology is simply outdated. Dean points out that satellite radio transformed into a monopoly, which is no surprise given the expense of the method, and now that monopoly is in financial trouble. Dean says internet radio was always the obvious choice in that people are already familiar with getting information through the internet, and spend more and more time with their portable internet devices. Dean reports that internet radio is already growing exponentially, and is being supported by huge manufacturers like Ford, who are already installing internet radio receivers in their vehicles. Dean says the only problem with internet radio is that because it seems so accessible, that many people think they can be successful “with just a voice and a microphone” and treat it as more of a hobby than a legitimate business model. But don’t worry, this is where Dean comes in.

Dean K. Piper’s W4CY Internet Radio Station based in Lake Worth, Florida is serving as a model of big things to come, and industry insiders are paying attention. The brick and mortar station is professionally run and operated and features a fully functional broadcast set up like one would see in a ClearChannel or CBS terrestrial radio station. To create it, Dean hired the best and the brightest of sound engineering in his technical director Chad Murphy to ensure a high sound quality broadcast better than that of terrestrial radio and to remove the “internet twang” of standard internet radio. Dean decided to break the mold of all radio stations and incorporate a broad expanse of programming to appeal to huge audiences, as opposed to being confined to one genre like pop or country music, or right or left wing talk. Then, once Piper got his ducks in row just as he liked, he had the station broadcast for three months offline, just to ensure that he would have the opportunity to work out any kinks before anyone heard a single word. As Piper often says, “You only have one chance to make a first impression,” and boy, did he ever. The W4CY Radio launch had sponsors clamoring to come on board and the long time terrestrial radio monopolies took notice.

Now W4CY Radio is the most rapidly growing internet radio station and currently streams live through the internet to over 150 countries around the world. Its digital broadcast is forwarded through popular streaming services like iTunes and Live365 as well as over 100 affiliates to over 4.5 million listeners. It’s main website at www.w4cy.com also offers live interactivity with radio shows via online chatting and webcam. W4CY Radio is accessible anywhere you can access the internet and that is the key says Dean.

In addition to Piper’s embracing of technology rather than fighting it, the other component to his success is his packaging of his radio station with his marketing group to offer sponsors and advertisers many forms of modern day marketing and promotional opportunities, with one friendly and easy interface. This means Dean’s companies will handle everything from assisting companies and individuals in clarifying their message through coaching and training, to devising a consistent and personalized roll out strategy, to implementing the strategy through the creation of custom content like radio ads and online ads, and disbursing said content utilizing Piper’s many disbursement avenues to include email campaigns, e-commerce, online advertising, social media promotions, as well as live on location event promotions. This one stop shop mentality has made Dean K. Piper’s radio station a favorite, especially in these hard economic times when individuals and businesses need to get their message across, and also need the most efficient way to do it.

Even though Dean seems to have reached the pinnacle, to know Dean is also to know he isn’t going to rest on his laurels. Piper is always creating, always investing, always expanding on to the next evolution of his life’s master plan. And while Dean says he can’t tell us exactly what is around the corner in his internet radio empire, he does tell us it’s gonna be big.

Are we surprised? Not really. If there was a moral to the story, it is that the future of radio is already here. His name is Dean K. Piper.
