CAREGIVING S.O.S., Wed., March 21, 2:00 p.m. EST on W4WN

Elder abuse is a tough topic, but needs to be discussed openly. Even the definitions vary. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what actions or inactions constitute abuse, and the problem remains greatly hidden. According to the best available estimates, between 1 and 2 million Americans age 65 or older have been injured, exploited, or otherwise mistreated by someone on whom they depended for care or protection. That’s horrific! My guest is Lillian Jeter, a former law enforcement commander who uncovered a case of elder abuse and neglect in 1985 that changed the nation’s whole perspective on the mistreatment of vulnerable older persons. Lillian serves as a consultant in elder abuse cases internationally and provides expert witness testimony in civil and criminal cases. (This show will also be rebroadcast on Saturday, March 24th, at 3:00 p.m. EST on W4WN.)
