Eating from Garden to Plate. It’s easier than you think!

Are you tired of buying tasteless bland tomatoes?  Do you bypass those expensive bell peppers which should be sweet but aren’t? Taste all starts in the garden, in the soil.  You can taste the richness of fruit, grains and vegetables flavors created by the mix of minerals permeating the top layer of the earth’s surface. Empty soil equals empty taste. Then there’s the “picked before sun-ripened” issue; that’s why you miss out on the sweetness of nature.  No wonder kids don’t like vegetables.

Here to help you find a better way, a delicious way to eat from the garden to plate are Family Food Expert, Dr. Heather Manley, Naturopathic Physician (Human Body Detectives’ author) and our esteemed guest, Jesse Ziff Cool, founder for CoolEatz.com,  where she showcases her dedication to sustainable agriculture and cuisine.  From restaurants to cookbooks, in community gardens to college classrooms, and through all forms of media, Jesse continues to help us figure out how to eat from the garden to our plates, loving every bite.  Get ready for some amazing fresh recipes!

People fly to Italy or Greece and return raving about the food, the Mediterranean way of eating.  Truth is, it is so easy to do this at home.  And, the health benefits are limitless.  You don’t need to travel any further than your local supermarket to find the needed ingredients.  And, recipes are so easily accessed on the internet if you don’t have a cookbook collection at home.  My co-host, Tracee, RD, (Real Food Moms), chef and author of several food books including Cook Once, Eat Twice, and I are so honored to announce our guest for this show, Sara Baer-Sinnott, founder of the Mediterranean Foods Alliance and President of Oldways, a nonprofit food and nutrition education organization, with a mission to guide people to good health through heritage.  Sara knows Mediterranean foods, why, what, when and how to serve it.  Having lived in Istanbul, I will attest to the ease with which you can bring those fabulously fresh Mediterranean flavors into your home for the whole family to enjoy!
