GPL Tournament After Party Asado Tickets, Tailgate Spaces and VIP Tickets Now Available

Wellington, Florida- March 15, 2011- Tickets, tables and tailgate spaces are available and selling quickly for the 2nd Annual International Gay Polo Tournament. The tournament is scheduled for April 2, 2011 at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida. It will feature top polo players from the Gay Polo League (GPL). This year’s tournament, participants can now purchase tickets to the event online, along with tickets to the Asado after party and VIP Tent by visiting http://gaypolotournament.blog.com/tickets/. After buying tickets online, they will be mailed directly to the purchaser, or can be picked up at will call on the day of the event
New for this year’s tournament is The Rotary Club of Wellington’s “Asado” After Party starting at 5:00pm, immediately following the trophy presentations. An “Asado” is an Argentinean and Brazilian traditional BBQ. International Polo Club Catering will present a wonderful array of delicious cuisine following the polo match, complete with a beverage service and entertainment to ensure this will be a memorable evening.

The Rotary Club is sponsoring a Chinese Auction during the afternoon and evening and is holding a live action during a break in the music. Auction items to include polo lessons from a professional player, plus other unusual surprises. This event is one you do not want to miss! The Asado will serve as the major fundraiser for Wellington Rotary’s local charities that include: The Lords Place, Back to Basics and Junior Achievement.
VIP Tables are $2500.00. This package includes 8 VIP tickets and a reserved VIP table with premier seating, honorable mention during the Tournament, listing in the program as table sponsor, meet & greet with photo opportunities and VIP Gift bag which will include special GPL items. The VIP tent will include a buffet, beer, wine and refreshments. The purchase of a VIP ticket also includes admission into the Asado Dinner and after party.
General Admission Tickets are $20.00, granting admission into the match. General Admission ticket purchasers will need to bring blanket or chairs for desired seating comfort. This year, proceeds raised from general admission tickets sold will go to support the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council.
VIP Tickets are $175.00 per person and tickets allows access and seating in the VIP tent, including a full buffet, beer, wine and refreshments. The VIP ticket will also include admission to the Asado Dinner and after party!
A very limited number of tailgate spaces are left for purchase at $175.00 per space. Each tailgate space comes with 8 general admission tickets. There will be a decorating and food competition, which is open for all tailgaters to participate. Prizes to be announced, but word on the street has it that the tailgate competition will be elevated this year!

2nd International Gay Polo Tournament Returns to Wellington in April 2011

Wellington, Florida – January 3, 2011 – The traditional sport of polo will take on a new field of players on April 2, 2011, when the world’s only Gay Polo League (GPL) will host their second international Gay Polo Tournament. Held at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, FL, the tournament will kick off with opening ceremonies and conclude with an awards presentation about 5:00pm, followed by an after-party!
The GPL is a United States Polo Association (USPA) official club and consists of all levels of polo players, from beginners to professionals. The USPA rates polo players based upon athletic abilities, playing skills, and tournament play time. Beginning at the lowest level “C”, players move up as they acquire knowledge and refine techniques, eventually getting to “B”, “A”, and then 0- 10, respectively. “A 10” is that coveted rating, and is only held by few players in the world. Those players who established themselves as the best in the world are awarded with the “A 10” rating. Members of all different levels are seen throughout the GPL, as the only skill required for club members is to have a passion for the sport of polo.
On April 2, 2011, the GPL will bring out their highest players to compete in a USPA governed tournament. The tournament will be comprised of twelve GPL players, and four world-class professional players. Each player will be provided with four horses, one per every seven and a half minute periods throughout the six-chukker game. Melissa and Marc Ganzi (owners of Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, FL), will provide sixty-four horses for GPL and professional players alike during the tournament.
After such a great beginning and a warm greeting from the community after the first tournament in April 2010, the GPL believes that this event has a long shelf life. GPL Founder and President, Chip McKenney, (COO of Troika Design Group) says, “Last year, GPL arrived in Wellington charged with excitement about playing polo at Grand Champions. And while we anticipated having a wonderful time, we were overwhelmed by the community turn-out and support we received. It was incredible! We can not wait to play there again and reconnect with our new friends – polo and non-polo.”

Identical twins Chris & Rob Desino are new to the Wellington area, but these experienced real estate professionals live and breathe the equestrian lifestyle.
