 January Jones welcomes Kerri Zane,

author of “It Takes All 5:

A Single Mom’s Guide to Finding the REAL One!”

I’m Kerri, I am not a baby but not ready to kick it either. At this point in my life I’ve had enough family trauma, male drama, kid adventures and work misfires to write the “War and Peace” of autobiographies.

KERRI ZANE

In 2001 my twelve-year marriage crumbled to pieces. It was devastating for me; life as I knew it was over. A million thoughts flew through my mind; how was I supposed to go on without the grounding that is part of being a couple, how would this turn of events affect my two young daughters, how could I financially support my family and how would I ever be desirable to another man again.  I conjured up myriad of ill-conceived notions of what the future would hold. I was scared.

Then just when I thought life couldn’t get any more complicated, it did. In quick succession my Dad passed away, I entered into an inexorably doomed business partnership, my mother nearly died from a horrible bout of shingles, my brother was diagnosed with cancer and the fall out from my divorce got uglier and uglier. It all took a serious toll on my mind, body and heart.

But as the poet John Vance Cheney said, “The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears.” I shed plenty of tears it was time to find the rainbow and heal the whole woman inside and out. Through my USM master’s program in spiritual psychology and extensive related research, I learned important life and empowerment skills that gave me a spiritual grounding with a broad emotional baseline to add to my physical fitness and nutrition knowledge. I began to embrace compassionate self-forgiveness, truly listened to my intuition, worked on redefining (or as I call it rescripting) my past life and understood my ability to make choices (never mistakes…I don’t believe there is such a thing as mistakes!) to create a bold and exciting future. I began having healthier relationships not only with men, but also with my daughters, my mom and most importantly, myself.

As time went on, I shifted my beliefs about the constructs of what true love really means. I began to consider my own dating experiences as enjoyable and educational opportunities rather than prospecting ventures for finding a new husband. I rescripted every encounter as a way to learn more about who I was and what I wanted in not just “The One” but “The REAL One.”

This 10-year journey led me to develop a unique new way of being and the most effective method to finding a new relationship. I call it the 5-Finger Philosophy. In my first book, “It Takes All 5: A Single Moms Guide to Finding the REAL One” I’ve outlined a powerful, life-altering, and empowering guide for all single moms to ultimately and once and for all have a “REALationship.” Which, I am happy to tell you, I have found and so can everyone!
